Online Roulette

Roulette is probably the most iconic casino game. Its attraction comes from the combined effects of its simple rules and the nervous excitement it inspires: a bet placed on where a small ball will stop can result in fortunes won or lost in seconds. The term Roulette means “little wheel” in French.

The Roulette rules are fairly simple: place your chip(s) on a number or a combination of numbers or on a color and the croupier then spins the wheel and sends the ball rolling in the opposite direction. You have to wait for the wheel to slow as your adrenalin rises. Check on which number the ball landed and if it is the number (or color) you selected, YOU WIN!!!

Legend has it that the Roman Soldiers used to remove a wheel from their chariots to play wheel games to entertain themselves during their long campaigns. But the first actual Roulette wheel was created by the French Mathematician and philosopher Blaise Pascal in 1655 as part of his search for a machine that would create perpetual motion.

The game has been played in its present form since as early as 1796 in Paris. It is said that a young Napoleon Bonaparte was mesmerized by the game and played regularly in Monte Carlo. In the 1800s, roulette spread all over Europe and the U.S.A., becoming one of the most famous and most popular casino games.

There are 2 types of Roulette game: American and European. The wheel contains either thirty-seven or thirty-eight numbered slots, (1-36), zero (0), and occasionally double zero (00). The double zero is only available on American wheels. Numbers are painted red or black. Zero and double zero sections are always green.

Playing Roulette

The American Roulette has a single 0 and a double 00 so a total of 38 numbered slots (there is no double 00 in the European Roulette) and the house edge for double-zero wheels (American) is 5.26%.

The European Roulette differs in having only 37 slots and a house edge for single-zero wheels (European) is 2.7%. Both roulettes have the same payout structure.

The croupier turns the wheel in a certain direction and pushes the ball into a circular track in the opposite direction. The ball eventually slows down and lands in one of the numbered spaces. The slot into which the ball finally lands is the winning number.

Online roulette offers the same excitement as in live casinos, but instead of the croupier dictating the pace, you get to call the shots.
